Frederick McCubbin: the brush-wielding bard of Australian bush life

In yesterday's post I showed you The Pioneer by early Australian artist Frederick McCubbin (1855-1917), the son of a baker, who was one of the key founders of the Heidelberg School of Australian Impressionism. Today a slightly different perspective on McCubbin.

Arthur Streeton was born at Mount Duneed, Victoria, on April 8, 1867. He showed an early aptitude for sketching and became a lithographer's apprentice. While still in his teens he began studying at the National Gallery School. Let's learn a little more about his paintings. Photo by Jane.
