Philippe de Kraan and "The Gathering" Part Two

Did you read yesterday's post? Because if you didn't please click here before reading on so that you fully appreciate the background to the painting being showcased today. A painting which took nearly 4 years to create. 

Below you can see Philippe working on this masterpiece.

The Gathering by Philippe de Kraan is an oil painting on Belgium Linen measuring - H6.5ft(198cm) x W10ft (305cm). Philippe commenced work on this masterpiece in 2008 and completed it in 2012. It was painted entirely with 000 brushes.

Philippe has provided me with some close up images so that can note and appreciate the amazing detail of colours and tones, shapes combing to form figures and objects - all blending to form The Gathering.

Not only are the details mesmerising - we can only marvel at the skill Philippe has to be able to create the rhythm of life which exudes from the canvas.

Study the shpes so carefully because before your very eyes a shape will morph into a figure.

And also here... you can observe the perfect placement of the figures so that no one dominates over another but harmonise to create a scene of fantasy and fulfillment.
