Carmel By The Sea

There is no better way to conlcude the weekend than by relaxing with images of beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Last week I received from Trevor, who normally lives in Canberra, a postcard of weathered and windswept cypress trees along the Carmel Beach coastline.

To keep you relaxed please enjoy these images of Carmel from the photographers at Unsplash.

Don’t let the brightness in the image fool you. By the time this photo was taken, it was near pitch dark on the rocky shore at Weston Beach in Point Lobos Natural Reserve. After the shoot, it was a challenge to get back on the trail that took me back to the parking lot, and it turned out the Park Ranger was already out searching for me because I overstayed way passed the closing time. Although annoyed at my lack of attention to the park schedule, he was also visibly pleased that he didn’t need to file a casualty report. The photo was taken on a tripod, low to the ground and level.

As hundreds of people stood mesmerized by this sunset at Carmel-by-the-Sea, this lone swimmer with a paddleboard waded through the waters. I was looking for a subject to freeze this frame and this made a perfect opportunity.
