Capturing movement in photgraphy
Today we are moving away from Jane's travel posts to feature a photographer from the Ukraine named Nika Ritshel who specialises in ballet photography.
Nika was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and graduated with two degrees - one in Show Design and the other in the Automation of Technological Processes. She used photography in some of her projects, and, by happy chance in 2018, had the good fortune to photograph a ballerina. She then decided to become a professional photographer working with movement - ballet, yoga, gymnastics and acrobatics.
Meticulously studying choreography, Nika Ritshel excels in anticipating the perfect moments to photograph, using lighting to enhance mood and form. In 2021, she designed her own range of clothing specifically to enhance the fluid split second moments she captures...........
The short video below gives us a real appreciation of the moments she captures in the blink of an eye, and the perfection of the resulting images:
.........and here is another quick 25 seconds showing taking a photo and the resulting image..........
Aren't they just exquisite! Can you pick a favourite?
