Sue Norman – Contemporary, versatile and fascinating!

Today we meet an Australian artist named Sue Norman. I first became aware of Sue by seeing her Beach Mandalas on Facebook - intricate pictures that she carves in the sand using only a stick. She does these every week on the beach in Adelaide, Australia, and has now completed over 500! What an achievement!

Take a minute to watch the fascinating video of Sue creating one such pattern, against the back drop of the beautiful seascape – showcasing the art of Mother Nature:

If you scroll to the bottom of that same web page you can see other examples of her work in the sand.

But Sue does not only make beautiful sand sculptures! She is also an acrylic, watercolour and mixed media artist. Now in her 50’s, she says in her bio that she doesn’t remember a time when she wasn’t drawing, painting or sculpting something!

Over the years, her horizons have expanded to include helping others discover art.

She describes her work as Mandalas, Fine Art and At Therapy. You can read her full bio here.

You can see examples of her paintings and mixed media in various categories if you click here.

I will let your look through her beautiful, restful work. Which category is your favourite? Can you pick a favourite painting?

Sue says:

”Everyone has an artist within, it’s there to balance your life”

For many of us, life and work get in the way, and dominate our lives. I am fascinated by people who have such creativity within them, have the ability to express it, and make it a priority to do that.
