Book Making

Some time back I received mail from D of Bendigo suggesting that I showcase Book Making as an Art Form. To commence I will introduce you to SB Libris (known as Libris) a Boutique Bindery in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. Libris was established in 2004 in the Arts Precinct of Bendigo: finding its home in one of the many classic, Victorian buildings which characterise Bendigo and reminds us of its golden past. As does Book Binding.

Simon and Belinda Dart are the owners of SB Libris. Simon has worked as a book binder for more than 12 years. The services they offer include: Resoration, Custom Book Binding, Theses, Minutes & Journals and Calligraphy.

Even though I love intereacting with technology and social media I totally agree with the quote I found on the SB Libris site:
A room without books is like a body without a soul. (Marcus Tullius Cicero)

Tomorrow you are going to meet a young artist from Sheffield (UK) who not only makes books, but also creates fabulous paintings. It is interesting that the Japanese artist Hokasai whom we looked at yesterday spent time learning the trade of book making. Tomorrow's artist also has this knowledge and influence in her works.
