AnneNewman - Buildings Windows on a Time: One This is the first painting in my series of Windows on a Time. Based on an old building I saw in Silverton, near Broken Hill, NSW, Australia I tried to show an earlier life beyond the ruined building as seen through the windows & doorways.
AnneNewman - Buildings Les Toits de Paris Inspired by the rooftops of Paris I added the evening light for effect. It worked and I was very satisfied with the end result. I could have sold the painting several times so must produce some more in this style. Again my love of the texture on buildings is featured. Available as a print.
AnneNewman - Buildings San Gimignano The subject matter came from my travels in Italy where the ancient walls offer a wonderful opportunity to recreate the textures on buildings that time has produced. Anything Italian is very popular with the art audience. Available as a print.
AnneNewman - Buildings All About the WaterMill The second of a pair of paintings depicting water mills. The idea came from an old photo of mills I took while travelling in France in the 1980s. In this painting I tried to create a sense of a community of buildings grouped around the function of running a mill.
AnneNewman - Buildings Tuscan Steps The idea for the painting came from my interest in Italian buildings and the wonderful play between light and texture. This painting has been very popular as a print. Available as a print.
AnneNewman - Buildings Bendigo Secrets Visiting my home city of Bendigo, Central Victoria, Australia, I came across this group of buildings and saw the potential for an interesting painting.
AnneNewman - Buildings Italian Village There is a wonderful beauty in the Italian buildings with the centuries of ageing on the stones. I love painting them and implying the stories the buildings could tell. Available as a print.
AnneNewman - Buildings Autumn Among the Rooftops An experiment in perspective and rooftops. The composition was easy but the colours were a challenge.
AnneNewman - Buildings The Old Watermill The idea to paint water mills came from an old photo of mills I took while travelling in France in the 1980s. The walls are so rich with the passing of time and I had a wonderful time creating the texture. The water lilies were added to give a touch of colour.
