Good Friday 2024

Today is Good Friday. It is the day when Christians throughout the world commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary, to redeem the sins of the world.

In many places around the world it is a day of solemnity and respect, with church services and enactments of the event.

Today we thought we would bring you some art depicting Good Friday. The following link is blog which presents and comments upon four very different paintings – by artists Marc Chagall, Matthias Grunewald, Rembrandt van Rijn and Peter Paul Rubens.

A Good Friday Reflection Through Art of the Cross
As we celebrate Good Friday, which was anything but for our Savior and His disciples, The Daily Citizen and Focus on the Family would like to share with you a few classic paintings of the crucifixion drama and some reflections upon them.

And of course, one of the most iconic images of Good Friday is Michelangelo’s Pieta, depicting Christ with his mother Mary after his body was taken down from the Cross. Sculpted by Michelangelo in 1498, when he was just 23 years old, it is one of his most famous works.
