Whilst I personally have never made a Gingerbread House for Christmas (and never intend to!) my sister was big on this culinary challenge when we were younger. So the presence of Gingerbread Houses does remind me of Christmas and the many times my father had to wire up her creations to stop the walls falling in! The making of the gingerbread houses apparently originated in Germany during the 16th century and somewhere along the way got associated with Christmas.
