Artist Peggy Shaw lives in Castlemaine, Central Victoria, Australia and on 9 January celebrated turning 100 years.
Castlemaine is famous for its annual Arts Festival and Peggy has been participating in the festival since its inception in 1976.
“I love it and I can’t wait for the next one!” Peggy says.
Peggy said that: “I started painting as a child but took a break to focus on raising my family. I rediscovered my love of painting in my 40s and haven’t looked back”.1

Here is Peggy with her daughter Julie Shaw (also an artist) showing their works from 2021 Castlemaine State Festival. Peggy is a watercolourist and Julie a mosaics master.1
They will be turning their home into a gallery space for the Castlemaine Arts Open Exhibition from 12-20 March 2022.2 If you are able to visit I am sure you will be most welcome and enthralled by their creative works.
Peggy's watercolour paintings are exquisite and executed to perfection with a touch of magic. Flowers from the wild and from the garden - all find pride of place in a Peggy Shaw painting.
I believe that being in Peggy's home is like walking into a botanical garden. And what was wonderful to know was that she received so many flowers for her birthday she hasn't got time to paint them all! 2

Congratulations Peggy - you are an inspiration to all of us.
